QUEENSTOWN won the George Thomas on Saturday Cup after edging out Lower Stratton 1-0 at Hunts Copse.
Midfielder Kieran McCarthy scored the winning goal of a tepid encounter when he converted Shaun Smith’s cross in the first half.
There was very little goalmouth action in either period and Stratton rarely threatened to get themselves back into it.
Queenstown manager Lee Thomas said afterwards: “We’ve not had the most successful season in the Premier Division but to win the cup makes it a successful season. We are chuffed to bits with it.”
“My man of the match was Scotty James but Stratton might have a different view.”
The triumph made it two cup victories in two years for Queenstown, as they won the Adver Cup last year.
