AFC Cricklade lifted the Swindon Sunday League Chairman’s Trophy for the third time in their history at the weekend, with a 2-0 win over Dorcan Old Boys.

Goals from Steve Avenall and Sam Reason fired Cricklade to the silverware, but Dorcan made a good fight of it in one of the best Trophy finals for a number of seasons.

In Division One, SKS Blyskawica finished their season on a winning note as they ran out 3-2 victors against The Manor. Tom Kapinski bagged a brace for Blyskawica before 49-year-old Mark Stacey levelled things up with two of his own for The Manor.

However, Keiron McDonnell scored a brilliant winner for Blyskawica as they took all three points.

Division Two action saw Craig Alexander’s strike for Tap & Barrel dent Coleshill’s chances of taking runners-up spot.

New Century secured the Division Three title against Inter Sandgate thanks to a Pat Slattery goal, and Eldene Social were just behind them in second place even though they went down 5-3 to CK Scaffolds.

Mark Harper (2), James Tinsley, Brad Clarke and Carl Flannagan all netted for Scaffolds, with Ash Gooch, Lee Grant and a Mick Hogg penalty the reply from Eldene.

In Division Four, Gavin Allen grabbed a hat-trick as DBS thrashed Bear Marlborough 7-0. Jamie Williams (2), Liam Sutton and Bryn Keech were also on the scoresheet in their easy win.

Regents look on course for the title following their 4-3 victory over Nationwide, and Deers Leap picked up all the points as they saw off County Ground 3-1, with Cary Watson, Merv Richards and Rich Ellis on target.

Thamesdown need to win their final Division Six game to ensure a runners-up finish following a 13-0 demolition of Southgate. Michael Gregory, Paul O’Malley and Steve Shaw all hit trebles, while Callum Miller and Liam Hellewell chipped in with two apiece.

Roughmoor Rangers cannot take second place now after losing 3-1 against AC Swindon - Oly Moore (2) and Dave Nicholls scoring for the victors. Patheon finished their season with a 2-0 win over Stratton Saints.

In Division Seven, Bakers Arms were crowned champions in style as they handed out a 5-0 drubbing to Old Nick, with Luke Coxhead (2), Thomas Butcher (2) and Daniel McCarthy doing the damage.

Eldene picked up a 2-0 win against Patriot Arms, while New Inn hit three through a Tom Green brace and Shaun Smith, but still ended up on the losing side, going down 5-3 to Rat Trap.

On Sunday, the Swindon Sunday League Knockout Cup final will be contested between Greyhound and The Manor. The final will be played at Supermarine’s Hunts Copse ground, kick-off 10.30am.
