JON-PAUL McGovern insists tiredness in the Town camp will not be a factor for their League One play-off campaign.
In fact, the midfielder believes the prospect of a showpiece Wembley final at the end of the month will only serve to refresh any aching limbs in the County Ground dressing room.
With just one win from their last six games, Swindon entertain Charlton in the first leg on Friday night, before making the trip to The Valley for the return encounter next Monday.
And while they have looked off the pace at times over recent weeks, McGovern is confident that will not be the case in the play-offs.
“Every team has a bit of fatigue going in to the end of the season,” he told the Advertiser.
“But if you asked the other teams in the league if they would like to be in the play-offs feeling a bit tired, then I think they would.
“We’re looking forward to it, and it’s amazing how much energy you can get knowing that two big results can get you to Wembley. Bring it on.
“Yes there’s disappointment that we didn’t go up automatically, but we’re in the play-offs and that’s not a bad thing.
“It shows how far we’ve come that we are disappointed to be in the play-offs. That says a lot for our season.
“It’s been a fantastic year and there’s no reason why we can’t go and cap it off.”
Millwall and Huddersfield make up the other semi-final gunning for a place in the Championship, and McGovern explained Town were unconcerned about who they faced at this stage.
“I don’t think it matters,” said the former Sheffield Wednesday man.
“There’s four strong sides in the play-offs and it would have been a tough game no matter who we got.
“We’ve got Charlton though, so we’ve got to beat them and then we’ve got to beat someone else to get into the next league.
“We’ve shown we can compete against the best.
“Leeds have got promoted and we’ve beaten them twice, we drew against Norwich who won the league, and we’ve had some other really good results.
“We don’t fear anybody.
“We know what we’ve got in the dressing room and, I’ve said it before, we wouldn’t swap it for any players in the league.
“So we will go into Friday feeling confident and knowing that if we play our way and do our thing then we are more than capable of winning the game.”
