CAPTAIN Gordon Greer insists Town’s squad need no motivating for their play-off campaign, as they relish the pressure of trying to reach Wembley.
Swindon face Charlton in the semi-finals, with the winner taking on either Millwall or Huddersfield at the end of the month for a place in the Championship.
They go into Friday evening’s first leg against the Addicks on a worrying run of form, recording just one win in six, but Greer is unconcerned.
“Nothing else matters now,” the centre-back told the Advertiser.
“It’s a clean slate, just two games and hopefully we are at Wembley on the 29th.
“The boys don’t need rallying. Although we lost at Millwall we are really looking forward to the play-offs and the boys are right up for it.
“Everybody is behind one another because we believe we’ve got a great chance.
“If you told us at the start of the season that we were definitely guaranteed to get promoted, then we would have taken doing it through the play-offs - getting the chance to play at Wembley, with the atmosphere and everything like that would be fantastic.
“When you are in the play-offs it’s a pressure, but a good pressure. We are going out there to try and achieve something for this club and the supporters.
“It’s a big challenge for us, but one that we are looking forward to.”
A near-15,000 sell-out is expected on Friday, and following memorable night games against Southampton and Leeds already this season Greer has urged the County Ground crowd to roar Town on to another unforgettable result.
“It’s always a great occasion at home under the floodlights,” said the 29-year-old.
“It would be fantastic to fill the ground. I’m sure the fans will get right behind the team and it will be a great atmosphere, which we can also take to Charlton on Monday.
“If we can get a good performance on Friday and a positive result then we’ll be really looking forward to the Monday night game. Hopefully we can get the result we want.”
