DANNY Wilson will tell his Town players to have no regrets minutes before they take to the pitch for tonight’s League One play-off semi-final first leg against Charlton.

Swindon have home advantage first up as they entertain the Addicks at the County Ground, knowing that they are just two games away from a Wembley final and the chance to ply their trade in the Championship next season.

And Wilson’s final instructions to his squad will be to give it everything they’ve got in front of a near 15,000 sell-out home crowd.

“The final words as we go out there will be that we can’t leave anything behind,” explained the boss.

“Nothing can stay in the dressing room, and if they’ve run themselves to a standstill then that is all we can ask.

“The one thing we don’t want is to have any regrets. We can’t come back in with if onlys and wishing we had done certain things.

“That doesn’t help because you can’t change it back again. We’ve just got to go out there, have a real good go, give everything for the fans and see what happens after that.”

One of the key reasons behind Swindon’s success this season has been their defence, but in recent weeks they have become uncharacteristically sloppy.

And Wilson has urged his side to tighten up, believing the tie could be won and lost by the finest of margins.

“We’ve been too sloppy and have given too many easy goals away over the last three games in particular,” he said.

“That is an area that we’ve worked very hard on at the training ground over the last few days.

“We can’t afford to give cheap goals away, not at this stage now. That is the last thing we want to do.

“If anybody gets anything out of us then they have to have earned it, and I don’t think they have earned it well enough over the last couple of weeks.

“We’ve been gifting them opportunities, which has not been like us.

“But we are now coming to the business end and the mindset will change completely.”
