DANNY Ward has revealed the Swindon Town squad which travels to The Valley this evening will do so without fear, as the prospect of a trip to Wembley lies on the not-too-distant horizon.

Ward, who grabbed the Robins’ second goal in Friday’s 2-1 win against the same opponents at the County Ground, claims he and his teammates are raring to take the game to their hosts from the off tonight.

And despite the spotlight of the nation’s media focusing strongly on the contest, Ward insists Town will not suffer a case of stage fright.

“I don’t think anyone is scared of the game,” he said. “There will be a few nerves, but nerves are good to get you up for the game.

“It’s great to be live on TV, and it’s a real buzz, but you can’t let that affect you.

“It adds that little bit more but you have to get your mind on the game and treat it like any other.

“Obviously it’s always there in your head, but you have to keep a level head.”

Although Swindon boast a large contingent of young professionals, Ward is adamant the old heads in the County Ground side’s ranks will make sure no one is affected by the hype surrounding the fixture.

“Dougie (Jonathan Douglas) and Dave (David Lucas) will keep everyone on the straight and narrow but everyone’s got great spirit and great attitude and that can only be good for us,” he said.

“I’ve never seen a team like this before, it’s just a great team to be in.”
