DANNY Wilson believes Town’s final day defeat against Millwall will have no bearing when the sides go head to head in the League One play-off final.

A goal in each half from top scorer Steve Morison and captain Paul Robinson handed the Lions a deserved 2-0 aggregate win over Huddersfield last night.

Millwall and Swindon faced each other at the New Den on the last day of the regular season only a couple of weeks ago, with Kenny Jackett’s side coming out on top 3-2.

But Town boss Wilson claims it will be a fresh slate at the neutral Wembley venue.

“It will have no impact whatsoever,” he told the Advertiser last night about the sides’ recent meeting. “Millwall will be a very, very tough proposition. They are very committed, but particularly at the Den, where that game was.

“So it will be slightly different at Wembley in terms of ball retention on the sidelines and getting it back into play.

“On the pitch it will just be 11 v 11 and we are more than capable of matching them. We are more than a match for anybody. We have to be very brave and cannot let them dictate the play. We have to be strong in our minds as well as physically, and impose our game onto them.”

Millwall have a wretched record in the play-offs, failing to gain promotion on the previous five occasions they have made it to that stage. But Wilson is ignoring that particular statistic, saying: “It’s got to change at some point.

“Things like that have to turn around and Kenny (Jackett) will be thinking why can’t it happen this time.

“I don’t bother concentrating on things like that I just want to make sure that we go out there and give it our best.”
