DAVID Howell will have a free weekend to watch Swindon Town in their League One play-off final against Millwall, after missing the cut at the Madrid Masters today.
Having carded a level opening round on Thursday, the Broome Manor pro missed out on two further days of action by coming in one over at the Hipica Espanola Club de Campo.
Howell couldn’t have got off to a worse start, double bogeying at the par-four first and par-three second, but he hit back immediately with a birdie at the third.
The 34-year-old would then have been happy with a pretty uneventful next few holes, and another birdie at the 14th gave the Swindonian a brief glimmer of hope.
Even though he saved further shots on the 16th and 18th, a bogey preceeding these on the 15th put paid to any slim hope of making the cut.
