TOWN'S Championship dream came crashing down at Wembley this afternoon as Danny Wilson's side were defeated 1-0 by Millwall.

A close-range 39th-minute effort from Paul Robinson sealed promotion for the Lions as the skipper poked past David Lucas.

Millwall also had a first-half goal ruled out when Kevin Amankwaah headed into his own net, with Liam Trotter adjudged offside.

Charlie Austin fired a one-on-one wide midway through the second period and the youngster also saw his last-minute effort tipped round the post by David Forde.

Six mins: Jon-Paul McGovern's cross from the right is just too long for Charlie Austin and it flies through for a goal kick.

Eight mins: Neil Harris attempts to shoot over David Lucas on the angle but the Town stopper tips over for a corner.

14 mins: Amankwaah and Lecsinel Jean-Francois get in a horrible muddle from Scott Cuthbert's back-pass but Lucas' clearance rebounds harmlessly off Steve Morison for a goal kick.

17 mins: A delicious through-ball from Danny Schofield sends Morison clear but the striker's attempted lob drops on the roof of the net with Lucas stranded.

18 mins: Schofield fires a couple of yards wide of the target from just inside the area.

22 mins: Alan Sheehan goes down following a sliding challenge by Shaun Batt 30 yards from goal. McGovern wastes the resulting free kick as it is headed clear.

25 mins: Batt breaks free down the right, then cuts inside, but his low, left-footed effort is comfortably picked up by Lucas.

26 mins: Sheehan's cross is a fraction too far for Jean-Francois at the far post and bounces away for a goal kick.

28 mins: A horrifying moment for Amankwaah as he heads Batt's cross into his own net under pressure from Liam Trotter, but the linesman rules that Trotter was offside when the ball was played in.

51 mins: Cuthbert makes a superb sliding tackle to deny Batt a clear run on goal.

53 mins: Town have started the second half much better but so far have nothing to show for it. Billy Paynter heads McGovern's deep corner well wide.

57 mins: Lucas fails to gather with Trotter lurking, but Cuthbert clears the danger. Nadjim Abdou drills well over from way out seconds later.
