DAVE Turner was left to rue his Wootton Bassett side’s inability to take their chances as they had to settle for a 2-2 draw away at Carterton.
James Blake scored twice to give the visitors the lead, but they squandered chances to make the points safe before being pegged back late on.
“That is just how it goes sometimes,” the Bassett boss admitted. “Sometimes you take your chances and sometimes you don’t.
“We managed to test the goalkeeper a lot, and in the first half he was faultless and made some really good saves, but then he spilled one on the goal line for James to score an easy goal, which was cruel given how well he had played.
“We even had a few chances after they equalised but we just couldn’t take them, and that summed the game up.
“A point away from home is good, but we had created enough to win it by half time so we are a bit disappointed really.
“We have not played games on a regular basis in the last few weeks so maybe we were a little ring rusty which could well have played a part.”
Elsewhere in the division, Cricklade Town beat Headington Amateurs 2-1, and Malmesbury were beaten 3-0 away at Old Woodstock.
