SWINDON bounced back from Saturday’s defeat to Oxford in style with an emphatic 4-0 victory over 10-man Dagenham & Redbridge tonight.
Billy Bodin opened the scoring midway through the first half before the visitors had striker Josh Scott sent off for a two-footed challenge on Oliver Risser.
From then on it was comfortable for Town as further goals from Joe Devera, Luke Rooney and Paul Benson sealed victory.
Here are the key moments from today’s game:
13 mins: Skipper Paul Caddis hobbles and is replaced by Jonathan Smith, with Alan McCormack moving to right back and Oliver Risser into the centre of defence.
18 mins: Medy Elito flashes a volley wide following a Daggers corner after winger Jon Nurse had caused a few problems for Town.
21 mins: Billy Bodin strikes the foot of the upright after wriggling his way past a couple of defenders on the edge of the area.
22 mins (GOAL, Bodin 1-0): Town take the lead when Paul Benson sends a low cross into the area and Bodin is on hand to slide the ball home.
32 mins: The lively Benson sees a powerful shot pushed behind for a corner by Daggers keeper Jonathan Bond, from which Benson glances a header just wide.
34mins (RED CARD, Scott): The visitors are reduced to 10 men when striker Josh Scott is shown a straight red card for a two-footed challenge on Oliver Risser.
51 mins: Paolo Di Canio makes his second substitution of the game with Luke Rooney replacing Raffa De Vita on the left wing.
59 mins (GOAL, Devera 2-0): Rooney makes an almost immediate impression as Joe Devera heads home from the winger’s inswinging corner.
63 mins (GOAL, Rooney 3-0): The game is ended as a contest when Bodin dummies to allow Ritchie’s low ball run across the area to Rooney, who smashes it into the roof of the net.
75 mins (GOAL, Benson 4-0): It is too easy for Town as the superb Rooney races into the area before slipping the ball across goal for Benson to tap home.
