PAUL Benson continued his stunning form in front of goal to give Swindon a 1-0 lead over Cheltenham at the break.
The evergreen striker smashed home at the far post 10 minutes before the break from Alessandro Cibocchi’s fine cross.
Minutes before taking the lead, Town had Wes Foderingham to thank for keeping the scores level when he saved Darryl Duffy’s penalty.
Here are the key moments from the first half:
Six mins: Scrappy start to the game but Cheltenham are the first to threaten when defender Steve Elliott heads over from a corner.
18 mins: Best chance of the game so far as Billy Bodin brings a high ball under control and is one-on-one with Jack Butland but the Cheltenham keeper blocks his effort. Matt Ritchie then picks up the loose ball on the edge of the area but his low shot is put out for a corner by Elliott.
30 mins: Big moment for Town as Cheltenham are awarded a penalty when Darryl Duffy tumbled inside the area under the challenge of Joe Devera. Duffy stepped up to take the spot kick but Wes Foderingham guess the right way to save the striker’s effort.
35 mins (GOAL, Benson 1-0): Soon after they could have gone behind, Town are ahead when Alessandro Cibocchi swings in a cross that goes all the way towards the far post where the unmarked Benson expertly smashes the ball into the back of the net.
