THERE was a shock in the Swindon Sunday League Knockout Cup as Division Seven side Wroughton Athletic beat Division One leaders CK Scaffolds 5-4 after extra time to reach the final.
They will play Greyhound at Supermarine in May after the Division One side beat Dorcan Old Boys of Division Two 4-3, also after extra time, to progress from their semi-final.
In the Wiltshire Sunday Cup, FC Jager progressed to the final with a 4-1 victory over AFC Gas.
With the top two sides in Division One in cup action, New Century WMC took advantage to close the gap with a comprehensive 9-0 victory over The Dolphin. Castrol and Penhill drew 2-2 in the only other game of the week.
Coleview went joint top of Division Two with a 3-1 win over Eldene Social Club, capitalising on leaders Rodbourne’s 3-3 draw with third placed Inter Sandgate. Wanborough also had a good weekend as they beat SKS Blyskawica 2-1 to stay fourth.
Pig on the Hill closed the gap on Fox & Hounds Martcom at the top of Division Three with a 2-1 victory over Dynamo Ashton, while West Swindon Wanderers beat Buteco 4-0.
The clash between Division Four leaders Patheon and bottom side AFC Royston went to form, with the table toppers running out 6-1 winners. Wheatsheaf put in a good performance to come out 4-3 winners over Smart Movers, while Rodbourne Real beat Tawny Owl 2-1.
In Division Five, Olympic Roofing put in the performance of the day to beat Nationwide Pavilion 13-0. The victory sees Roofing remain joint top with Red Lion FC, who beat AC Bushwackers 4-0, but with two games in hand.
Woodlands Edge and Nationwide played out an entertaining 2-2 draw, and FC Parks beat Chiseldon Sunday 3-2.
The top two met in Division Six, with leaders FC Walcot beating KC Globe 3-0 to extend their lead to 13 points. Third placed Swiss Chalet beat Oak Furniture Land 5-2, Trak Employment beat Cartus FC 2-1, while Eldene beat Nythe by the same score.
Swindon Asians continue to lead Division Seven after a 5-2 win over Swindon United, but Urban Allstars are only a point further back with four games in hand following their 3-0 success at Gorsehill Borough. In the only other game of the week, third placed Nine Elms United beat Rosier Rovers 8-1.
