LEE Holmes was delighted with the reception he received from Swindon fans on Saturday, but was disappointed he couldn’t help Town get a result to go with it.
The 24-year-old, who spent three months with the Robins seven years ago, came on at half time and impressed with a number of dangerous crosses.
However, goals from Nick Powell and Ashley Westwood gave Crewe the three points and while disappointed with the result, Holmes was thrilled with the reception he received from the travelling Town supporters.
“It was fantastic,” he said. “From all those years ago it was great to know that they remember as well as I do.
“So that was certainly fantastic and long may it continue.”
As for the game itself, Swindon never really got going and by the time they did play the football they are capable of, they were already two-goals down.
And while Holmes was disappointed, he is confident that he and the rest of the team will be able to make amends against Torquay tomorrow.
“The pitch was a little difficult to play on but in the second half I felt we gave a good go at it and if one of the chances had gone in it could have been a different game,” he added.
“But letting the second goal go in it becomes a tough game to get back into.
“It will be back to the drawing board today and I am sure we will bounce back tomorrow.”
