DOUG Imrie is hoping Clinton Nouves is the answer to his side’s goalscoring problem after recruiting the front man to hit the net regularly.

Lowly Marlborough are the lowest-scoring side in the Wiltshire Premier this season with 25 goals from 24 games, and failed to register in their 1-0 defeat to Vale of Pewsey on Saturday.

But Imrie has just brought Nouves into the first team from the reserves in a bid to improve that statistic.

“We’re playing some really good football, we’re just lacking a striker,” said the boss.

“For 80 per cent of our games we’ve been the better team but haven’t been able to score.

“We just can’t finish in the final third although we create plenty of chances.

“We don’t have a regular out-and-out striker, we’ve been playing two midfielders up front.

“Clinton has had a couple of games in the reserves and hopefully he can come in and do a job for us.”

Elsewhere, Sanford strengthened their grip on top spot with a 3-1 victory over visitors Devizes Town Reserves.

A bullet header from Scott Scanlon gave Sanford the lead at half time, before the away side equalised midway through the second period.

Substitute Devan Bryan then provided the pass from which Jamie McGahey restored the Sanford advantage.

The result was sealed five minutes from time with a fine strike from Brad Gill.

Elsewhere in the division, Purton Reserves won 3-2 at Corsham Reserves and Blyskawica triumphed 3-2 at home to Wroughton.

Moredon were defeated 1-0 by visitors Chippenham Youth while Southbrook lost 4-3 at home to Ludgershall.

In Division One, Madames cut the gap between themselves and league leaders Box to eight points after beating Marlborough Reserves 2-1.

Wroughton won 5-4 at Chippenham Youth Reserves in a thriller but Ashton Keynes and Ramsbury played out a goalless draw.

Malmesbury Reserves thrashed Wilton 4-0 and Lower Stratton lost 2-1 at Marshfield, while Old Town drew 2-2 with Intel.
