IN-FORM Highworth will attempt to take another step towards a cup double tonight.
The Elms outfit take on Calne at Devizes’ Nursteed Road ground in the semis of the Wilts Senior Cup, with Bemerton lying in wait should they progress.
Highworth are also still in the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup where they are pitted against Wokingham & Emmbrook, meaning the prospect of two pieces of silverware is very much a possibility.
Boss Dave Webb said: “We’re all realistic and we know that we’re not going to win the league, but the double is on, and if we can win (against Calne) then that’s the first bit.
“We’re keen to progress and have a go at Bemerton, and Wokingham have been a bogey side for us in the past so it won’t be easy for us, but I’m confident.
“We’ve got ourselves in a good position in the league so now let’s do it in the cups.
“By no means are we underestimating Calne They are having a good season and it should be an extremely exciting game.
“I suppose people will look at us as slight favourites given the league we play in, but there’s plenty to play for.”
Skipper Ritchie Saunders is out with knee and calf problems while Tony Joyce is on holiday.
Elsewhere tonight, Shrivenham are in Hellenic Premier action after having the weekend off, as they travel to Reading.
Wootton Bassett welcome Clanfield to Rylands Way in Division One West.
In the Southern Premier, Chippenham will be hoping to arrest their run of five games without a win at struggling Hemel Hempstead.
Seemingly-doomed Cirencester play host to league leaders Brackley.
