NOT many teams have managed to find a way past highly-rated Torquay keeper Robert Olejnik this season, but Billy Bodin will be hoping to use his inside knowledge to good use if selected tomorrow night.
The Austrian stopper has been in scintillating form in his first season with the Gulls, keeping an impressive 17 clean sheets to help Martin Ling’s side rise to second in League Two.
Swindon will need to be at their attacking best tonight if they are to find a way past Olejnik, and Paolo Di Canio has no doubt leaned upon Bodin, who spent much of the first half of the season at Torquay, for advice on whether there are any weaknesses to the former Aston Villa trainee’s game.
“He is very good at coming for crosses and his kicking is excellent also,” Bodin told the Advertiser.
“Bobby and Wes (Foderingham) are very similar and they have had a lot of clean sheets this season. It is good to have a keeper like that behind you.
“He is a good keeper in general so my plan is really just to keep getting shots in and see what he is like on the day.
“Any keeper makes mistakes so we just have to keep getting shots and see how it goes.”
Torquay’s form this season has not just been down to the form of Olejnik and they boast match winners all over the pitch.
Midfielders Eunan O’Kane and Lee Mansell have proven a handful for many sides, while Rene Howe provides a physical presence in attack.
“Eunan O’Kane is a very good player, as is Lee Mansell,” added Bodin. “Lee comes through from midfield and he is always scoring goals.
“Rene Howe is a big target man but he has great feet as well, but you have to watch out for the whole team really.
“They pass the ball about well and they almost try and play like Barcelona.
“They also press all over the pitch so we just have to match them.
“They don’t win by a lot of goals, it is always one or two nil, so it will be another tough game.”
Bodin was an important player for Torquay during his loan stint at Plainmoor and he returned to the County Ground at the start of January a better player than the one who left in August.
“I learnt a lot while I was at Torquay. It was nice to get away and get games, that was why I went there. I got a few goals and it was all a good experience,” he said.
“As long as I was playing that was all I wanted to do and that is what has happened since I came back to Swindon.
“I have been playing and scoring and hopefully I can keep doing that until the end of the season.”
