SWINDON Town are set to sign Barnsley left back Jay McEveley on loan until the end of the season, the Advertiser understands.
Paolo Di Canio confirmed at the weekend that he planned to delve back into the transfer market before the loan window shuts tomorrow after watching his side lose 2-0 at Crewe.
Left back and centre midfield were identified as the areas of the squad that needed strengthening and Di Canio looks set to bolster one of those two positions, with McEveley due at the County Ground for talks today.
McEveley, who was born in Liverpool, is a Scotland international who started his career at Everton before going on to play for the likes of Blackburn Rovers, Ipswich and Derby County before joining Barnsley in 2010.
The 27-year-old has made almost 40 appearances for the club and started for the Tykes against Southampton earlier this month, but was left out of the side for the game against Crystal Palace last night.
McEveley is out of contract at the end of the season and, should all go through as anticipated today, he will join on loan with a view to signing a permanent deal at the County Ground in the summer.
