CHIPPENHAM boss Adie Mings is determined to utilise local talent as he plots his side’s return to form in the Southern Premier.
The Bluebirds are without a league win in six games but did manage a 1-1 draw away at Hemel Hempstead on Tuesday evening.
One bright spot of the bad run was a debut for 18-year-old Ben Wickens in Saturday’s defeat at home to Hitchin, and the youngster was an unused substitute on Tuesday.
Mings believes he can continue to make an impact in the first team ahead of tomorrow’s visit to league leaders Brackley Town.
“He’s done well in training and sometimes when things are not going your way you have to try something different.
“We’ve got high hopes for Ben and believe he could go on and do very well for Chippenham in the future.
“There’s a lot of good young talent about.
“They may not be quite ready for this level yet but you like to integrate them when you can and get them along to training which we have been doing.
“We’ve got some good young lads behind the scenes and hopefully we’ll be able to bring them through.”
Chippenham will be looking to fare better than Cirencester when they take on the table toppers, after the men from the Corinium lost 2-0 to them on Tuesday night.
Ciren will once again go in search of a much-needed victory when they host Hitchin tomorrow with their hopes of survival continuing to fade.
