Wroughton took a point away from their Wiltshire Premier encounter with Wilts Calne Town, but boss Wayne Long was disappointed not to secure all three.

The hosts took the lead towards the end of the first half when Anton Webb let rip with a cracking drive from the edge of the penalty area.

However, in the final 10 minutes of the second half a sloppy defensive mistake allowed Calne in. Although goalkeeper Jason Knight pushed the initial shot onto the post, the follow-up was converted.

Boss Long said: “On paper it’s a decent result, but if you were at the match you would think it was two points dropped.

“They are a big, strong side who are fourth for a reason, but we controlled the game.

“We say the same thing every week, we’re not taking chances and putting teams to bed and we let them back in. We’ve done it so many times, against Chippenham we were 2-0 up and lost 3-2.

“We’ve got to learn how to see teams off.”

Long is adamant that his players will learn the relevant lessons, though.

He said: “It’s about discipline, the players have got to hold their positions, but it was difficult because it was very hot and the players were very tired.

“It’s very frustrating because we know we’ve got it in us to do well.

“The players will learn and they won’t have that feeling every week.”

Elsewhere in the division, Sanford’s title hopes were dented by rivals Chippenham, who beat their Swindon rivals 3-2.
