SWINDON Supermarine twice battled back from a goal down to draw 2-2 at Leamington last night.

The visitors had gone into the game looking to bounce back from a hefty 6-0 defeat to Chesham as well as having to deal with a goalkeeper crisis with Kent Kauppinen having been jailed for assault and stand-in stopper Jason Hull being unavailable after he was sent off at the weekend.

Ashley Harrison stepped in for last night’s game, despite having to contend with dislocated fingers, and there was little he could do about the two goals he conceded at the New Windmill Ground.

Lee Chilton opened the scoring for Leamington early in the first half but Supermarine hit back 10 minutes before the break, with Max Etheridge hitting the back of the net.

However, just four minutes later Leamington regained the lead through Stephan Morley to give the home side the advantage at half time.

Supermarine, did not give up, however and came out fighting before the break and snatched a share of the spoils when Ben Wells equalised nine minutes from time with a free kick.

“We spoke about Saturday being a one off and we just asked for people to battle tonight and they did that,” said Gary Horgan.

“We had Ashley Harrison back in goal and fair play to him as he turned out for us with his dislocated finger.

“There was not too much he could have done about the goals.

“It was good to get a point and it sets us up for Saturday.”

Supermarine continue their bid for survival when they travel to Hemel Hempstead on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Highworth Town lost 2-0 at home to Reading Town while Shrivenham were beaten by the same scoreline at Shortwood United.
