Highworth will aim to avoid cup agony for the second time in a fortnight tomorrow when they travel to Wokingham & Emmbrook.
The Elms side were dumped out of the Wilts Senior Cup semi by Calne 10 days ago but are one match away from a last-four spot in the Challenge Cup.
Victory over Wokingham tomorrow would set up a semi with Oxford City Nomads, which boss Dave Webb and his players are desperate to achieve on the back of defeats to Calne and Reading.
“We haven’t had a great week, we’ve lost two games in seven days and that’s been difficult,” said Webb.
“The last time we lost two games back-to-back was November and that shows we’ve done very well, but it’s still difficult when you lose a couple of games, you start questioning yourself.
“That’s just the high standards that we set. We’ve had better weeks but as ever you get another opportunity to get back to winning ways.
“It’s the last-chance saloon for us on Saturday. It’s a massive game and an extremely tough game.
“We’re desperate to try and progress to a semi-final, take on Nomads and then go on and win something.”
Ritchie Saunders and Dan Wallington are suspended for the meeting with Wokingham while left-back John Steedman is cup-tied.
Meanwhile, Charlie Grabe says Fairford will not rely on the same slice of luck they had last season as they aim to avoid relegation from the Hellenic Premier.
The Cinder Lane side remained in the division at the expense of demoted Wootton Bassett in 2010/11, and this campaign find themselves once again in trouble.
They currently sit third-bottom with high-flying Slimbridge lying in wait this weekend.
And striker Grabe believes his team must look to repeat recent positive performances, even if they have only yielded one victory in seven games.
“Recently we’ve been playing much better football and we should have got more points out of the games we’ve played,” he said.
“Sometimes the bottom four don’t end up going down but we can’t look at it that way.
“We’ve got to try and win the games and can’t rely on what happened last year .
“We need to carry on from the good performances we had at Highworth, Shrivenham and Witney, which we were disappointed to lose.”
