RAFFA De Vita is just happy to be involved in a promotion chasing side – no matter where he is asked to play.

The Italian started the season as a striker but was converted to a left winger by Paolo Di Canio.

However, the arrival of Luke Rooney and Lee Holmes earlier this year means he is once again considered a striker, and he played in attack against Bristol Rovers on Saturday after coming on as a late substitute.

The 24-year-old admitted it was a little strange at first, but he is just happy to be in and around a squad that he believes is of much better quality than League Two.

“I was back on Thursday morning training with the strikers and it was a little strange, but I am happy to play wherever so it is all good,” said De Vita.

“I am just happy to get a chance because we have a really good team, so to be involved is great.

“Everyone wants to be in the side of course but we don’t have a normal squad in a sense, we have a team of players that is more than League Two level, so to be in and around the matchday 16 has to be appreciated.”

By the time of De Vita’s introduction, Town’s game against Bristol Rovers looked destined to end in a draw.

The Robins had dominated for a good hour of the game, but were unable to find a way past Rovers’ keeper Scott Bevan and clear cut chances were ultimately few and far between.

“I think if we had got a goal in the first half we could have gone on to get four or five,” added De Vita.

“It was not the case and we kept going, but they got some confidence as the game went on and we could not get the goal to give us the win.

“When I came on we were really frustrated and it was really hard to keep going.

“But we have a great gap at the top of the table and if someone had said at the start of the season that with eight games to go we would be two clear we would definitely sign for it.”
