BRISTOL Rovers boss Mark McGhee enjoyed seeing how Paolo Di Canio operates up close on Saturday, and believes keeping the Italian beyond the summer must be a priority for Swindon.
Di Canio was his usual animated self on the touchline as he tried to encourage his players to pick up three important points in their quest for promotion.
However, Rovers’ defended well to become the first League Two side this year to take something from a trip to the County Ground.
The point has moved Town two points clear of second place with two games in hand, and McGhee accepts that promotion looks likely for the Robins.
But the Scot also believes that Swindon must ensure Di Canio stays for next season if they are to continue to progress.
“You can feel the passion that he has for his team, for his club, and for results and that gets through to his players,” he said. “I think he’s brilliant and he will be great for Swindon.
“I think he will get them up and I just hope, for their sake, he stays and takes them beyond that.”
