SANFORD manager Les Gill says his team are still the masters of their own destiny as they aim for Wiltshire Premier glory.
The Swindon side dropped two points at Wroughton at the weekend following a 1-1 draw, but still remain three points up on second-placed Bradford.
Sanford welcome Marlborough tonight and can go six clear with Bradford not in action, but there still remains the possibility that the two top teams could face each other in an effective championship play-off on the last day of the season.
“We’re still three points clear and it’s very much in our own hands,” said Gill.
“The game against Marlborough was always going to be a tough one and there were some great individual battles, but it was a fair result.”
Taylor Gill opened the scoring for Sanford after a quarter of an hour when he caught out the goalkeeper from long range.
Wroughton equalised with a neat volley before the break, but that was the last time either goalkeeper was beaten.
Meanwhile, Marlborough gained an impressive 2-1 victory at Wilts Calne Town in the absence of manager Doug Imrie.
The boss was unavailable but this did not perturb Marlborough, who sealed the win courtesy of goals from Luke Little and then Pete Russett late on.
Imrie said: “We had a big chat with the lads in midweek and said enough was enough, we needed to dig in and get a result.
“On the day my assistant told them to prove a point and by all accounts they dictated the game rather than being dictated to.”
Elsewhere in the division, Chippenham saw off Vale of Pewsey 2-0, Devizes beat hosts Moredon 3-2 and Blyskawica won 2-1 at Shrewton.
Corsham Reserves were comfortable 4-0 winners over Amesbury and Purton Reserves lost 2-1 to Ludgershall.
In Division One, Box Rovers made it 22 wins from 22 games as they took a 2-1 victory at Sanford Reserves.
Craig Gingell’s men are now just one victory away from securing the league title.
Old Town closed the gap on second-placed Madames with a 2-1 triumph at Marshfield, while Ashton Keynes cruised to a 5-1 win over Wilton.
Chippenham Youth Reserves battered rock-bottom Marlborough Reserves 8-1.
