DAVE Turner has voiced his displeasure that Wootton Bassett have been forced to finish their Division One West campaign with four games in 10 days.
Bassett beat Cricklade on Saturday and host Lydney tonight, before welcoming Cirencester Dev and Winterbourne on Saturday and Monday respectively.
Turner believes the Hellenic League should have spread the fixtures out so the players could have had the chance to recuperate better.
“We finish on Monday and the season goes on another three weeks,” said Turner. “What can you say? You couldn’t make this stuff up.
“They (the league) don’t seem to care about the players’ welfare and I personally think it’s absolutely crazy. Why can’t we give players the chance to recover?
“I think all managers feel the same but they don’t seem to listen to us.
“I know Dave Webb’s going through something similar at Highworth but we haven’t got the games like them, it could have been spread out.”
Liam Edmondson misses this evening’s game as he is on holiday, while Craig Bowden (hip) and Adam Corcoran (knee) are out and Jack Ellis is 50-50 with an ankle problem.
Elsewhere tonight, Cirencester Dev make the trip to Carterton.
In last night’s action, Highworth Town were held to a 0-0 draw by Bracknell Town.
Dave Webb’s side hit the bar twice but were unable to break the deadlock.
