RONAN Murray was delighted to get his name on the scoresheet once again last night as the striker’s first goal since February helped Swindon to a 2-0 win at Barnet.
The on-loan Ipswich forward used his pace to race onto Luke Rooney’s ball over the defence before stabbing a shot beyond Bees keeper Dean Brill.
Murray has been in and out of the side during his time at Swindon, but is happy just to be playing a part in a side that looks set to be celebrating promotion back to League One in the coming weeks.
“It was brilliant, it had been a while coming because my last goal was some time ago,” he said.
“It was good to get on the scoresheet because I love to score goals, I have not been playing at my best the last couple of months but hopefully I showed last night what I can do.
“You have to be disciplined and wait for your chance and I think I have done that. I just try to do my best for the team because that is what it is all about.
“The aim for this club is to get promotion and win the league and I am just doing what I can to help them do that.”
It was never going to be an easy fixture for Town, with Barnet fighting to retain their League Two status.
But Murray’s opener and Oliver Risser’s strike from Jay McEveley’s free kick ensured it was ultimately a comfortable win for the Robins.
“These are the games that are like your Manchester Uniteds going to your Boltons in the Premier League,” added Murray.
“You have to grind out wins and get the three points on the board and then move onto the next game and that is what we did last night.”
