INTERIM chairman Jeremy Wray has called for Town fans to flock to the County Ground tomorrow to potentially celebrate promotion to League One.

If Swindon beat Plymouth and Torquay lose or Crawley fail to win, Town will be promoted, and Wray wants as many Swindon fans as possible to be there to celebrate with the team.

Currently 8,500 tickets have been sold for the game, for what Wray believes could be a special day in the club’s history.

“We would love to see the ground full because the County Ground full is a very special place. The atmosphere at some of our big games this season has been electric,” he said.

“When the fans start singing and their noise reverberates around the whole ground this is a very special place to be, and the players must feel it.

“That is why Paolo wants the Stratton Bank full of Swindon fans.

“Promotions do not come along every season, and we want the place to be absolutely full when it happens for us.”

While not wishing to tempt fate, Wray said the club will do its best to make sure fans are aware of what is going on at Plainmoor and the Broadfield Stadium “We will certainly try to keep the crowd aware of what is going on in the rest of the country, and the crowd will be left in no doubt if we are on for it,” he said.

“I am not going to tempt fate and say it will happen this weekend, but there is a chance it could happen, and I want everybody to be there to enjoy the moment with us if it does happen.

“I do not believe for the 90 minutes that Paolo will allow his focus to drop, but there is the possibility, if things are going well on the pitch, that he may ask to find out what is going on elsewhere too.”
