AS WE know football is a game of emotion. Feelings of elation when your team wins, and of depression after a bad defeat.

There's also the feeling of unity with like-minded souls when you're following whichever side you support.

Right now that feeling of unity has never been more evident at the County Ground.

The championship of League Two is only a matter of moments away, surely, and a right old knees-up will celebrate months of toil and sacrifice by players, fans and officials alike.

One simple act sums up that unity.

After every game we see our manager take a few seconds to remove the red and white scarf from around his neck, and hold it aloft.

Then comes the finger to the sky signalling promotion.

Simple gestures, but they've now become part of Swindon Town folklore. It may not seem much in life's grand scheme of things, but for every Town fan it’s a moment of release and celebration.

We all know about the passion of Paolo Di Canio, and that's shown in that few seconds we all can share.

I don't know if he has anything special planned for the ultimate moment of triumph, but I'm guessing it'll be pretty good and well worth savouring. If you leave before the final whistle, change your routine against Plymouth and stay to watch this ceremony take place.

I guarantee you'll feel just a little better about life, and whatever the result, will have a smile on your face.

Having watched the Town since the 60s, I know moments like these should be treasured.

There haven't been too many seasons like this and so make the most of it.

The pure joy that comes from seeing your team do well can't be beaten.

So get your scarves out for the lads this Saturday -Paolo does it, that's good enough for me.
