TICKETS for Town’s trip to Gillingham a week today will go on sale this morning, although a row over policing costs is yet to be resolved.

It is unclear whether the League Two clash will take place behind closed doors or in front of thousands, as the Gills are still locked in discussions with the local authorities.

Depending on various results, Town could ultimately end up securing promotion at Priestfield.

The Kent club yesterday sent Swindon the full allocation of away tickets, which go on sale at 8.30am today to priority season ticket holders and Club Red Members.

The remaining tickets go on sale on Tuesday to fans who are on the Robins’ ticket database.

Interim chairman Jeremy Wray told the Advertiser: “I would encourage our fans to buy their tickets and we can guarantee that they will be fully refunded should they not make it.

“As a club we want to make sure none of our fans are out of pocket.

“We have to wait and see (whether the fixture goes ahead in front of supporters), it’s a strange one but there’s no more we can do.

“There’s nothing to suggest there’s been a change in the situation, the only thing that’s definite is that it will be a 3pm kick-off and not a lunchtime kick-off.”

A Town statement said: “Gillingham and the local authorities have yet to reach a resolution over the issue of policing costs and it is unlikely that any resolution will be reached before next week.

“Whilst this situation remains ongoing there is a remote risk that the fixture may not proceed (in front of fans) as scheduled.

“In this event, any fan purchasing a ticket will receive a full refund for the value of the ticket but the club cannot be held responsible for any advance travel costs that may be incurred.”
