CHARLIE Grabe says that only a repeat performance of the weekend’s display will be enough to see Fairford get a result against Highworth tonight.

Fairford, relying on external factors to keep them in the Hellenic Premier, take on a Highworth outfit that are riding high in the division and have also made the Challenge Cup final.

However, Fairford are currently on a mini-high at present having surprisingly defeated Ardley 2-1 on Saturday, a game in which striker Grabe found the net.

“We played really well at the weekend and it could have been more,” said Grabe.

“We missed two from under the bar when we were 1-0 up and thought it was going to be one of those days.

“After we got the second through Jon Gabilondo we were comfortable, although when they pulled one back it was backs against the wall for a while.

“If we play like we did on Saturday then we should have a chance against Highworth.

“We were unlucky when we played them at home before and if we were to get a win that would be a good end to the season.”

Meanwhile, Highworth boss Dave Webb believes Fairford could be a tough proposition for his side at the Elms this evening.

“Fairford are a young side who don’t play with any fear, and their confidence will be sky-high after beating Ardley at the weekend,” he said.

“They have a few ex-Highworth players in their team who will be aiming to prove a point, so it’s not going to be easy.

“It’s a local derby and we had the disappointment against Shrivenham the other day - I don’t want that feeling again in a local derby.”

Elsewhere tonight, Purton visit Hook Norton in Division One West while Cricklade visit beleaguered Trowbridge.
