TABLE-TOPPERS Sanford could move a step closer to the Wiltshire Premier title tonight but they need Shrewton to do them a favour.

The league leaders are six points clear of Bradford who have a game in hand, which falls this evening at Shrewton.

Should midtable Shrewton defeat Bradford, that would put Sanford in a very strong position with three fixtures to go.

Neither Sanford or Bradford were in league action at the weekend, but elsewhere FC Chippenham Youth lost 2-0 to Shrewton and Marlborough beat Blyskawica 2-1.

Marlborough were 1-0 down at the break but following the resumption Liam Byfield got the first when Aaron Cardozo teed up his teammate to tap into the empty net, The second arrived as Byfield’s shot resulted in a mix-up between defender and goalkeeper, and Byfield was able to nip in and grab a second.

Marlborough boss Doug Imrie said: “A draw would probably have been the fairest result but it was nice that we got a couple of decisions go our way, when they hadn’t earlier in the season.”

Wilts Calne Town crushed Moredon 7-1 and Devizes won 3-0 at Vale of Pewsey.

Corsham Reserves defied their lowly position in the Wiltshire Premier to thrash Ludgershall 4-1.

Justin Flowers got Corsham off to a good start with a penalty and Ed Baldwin headed home to make it 2-0 from a corner.

Joe Lye ensured it was 3-0 at half time and Rich Bolter’s mis-hit after the break gave the home side their fourth.

Manager Stuart Beeho said: “We only really built the team from Christmas and January onwards.

“The reserve team is never going to be settled until the first team is sorted out and we also had people missing due to work and family commitments, “But since then the players have bonded quite well and we’re playing decent football - having continuity is paying off.”

In Division One Box Rovers might have won the title but they showed no signs of letting up against Madames.

Madames were sitting in third place going into the game but Craig Gingell’s men trounced their rivals 8-1.

Old Town leapfrogged Madames into second with three games to play after crushing Chippenham Youth Res 6-2.

Intel saw off hosts Malmesbury Reserves 4-2.
