SWINDON Town Ladies Under 14s continued their unbeaten run to move to within one point of leaders Didcot Casuals with a game in hand after a 5-1 home victory against visitors Thame.
The recently crowned Swindon Advertiser Young Team Of The Year started the game slowly after their five week lay-off and went behind after 10 minutes when Thame were awarded a penalty for a high boot in the Swindon area.
This shook Town into life, and after going close with a couple of efforts finally got an equaliser when Amy Jolliffe headed in a great cross from Alice Telling, this was followed closely by a second goal when Ellie Skittrall struck a well placed shot from the edge of the penalty area after good work from both Chloe Brown and Telling.
The second half saw the Reds go up a gear and score three a further goals without reply through Jess Graham, Alice Telling and a Thame own goal.
Swindon know they will have to play better in their next game, which is a top of the table clash with Didcot Casuals on Wednesday night under floodlights at Wantage Town FC.
The result of the game will go a long way to deciding the destination of the league championship trophy.
