SUNSHINE after the rain? I think it might be a little optimistic to expect wall-to-wall sunshine for this afternoon’s game against Port Vale.

So if you’re on the Stratton Bank take a waterproof!

Whatever the weather, though, it should be a time to celebrate and reflect on an extraordinary season.

I’m sure over the next couple of weeks there’ll be reviews of one of the most fascinating campaigns in the history of Swindon Town.

The appointment of a controversial young manager, a stuttering start, off the pitch rumblings et cetera.

One thing is for sure though, the Town have got out of the Football League basement again. For that, credit goes to everyone at SN1.

It’s always said when we go up that we should never go back there. Somehow though, it always seems to happen. You can never guarantee anything in football, just ask Real Madrid and Barcelona, but this time I have a feeling there’s a determination to get things right.

The club is moving in the right direction on and off the pitch, and lessons seemed to have been learned from the last miserable relegation.

It’s going to be an interesting summer, of that I’m sure.

First though, there’s a title to be won and a packed County Ground to enjoy.

Unless you’re a fan of the super-rich clubs, these days don’t happen very often.

I’m sure Port Vale won’t be here to allow Swindon an easy afternoon but the team is very close to the finishing line.

Professional footballers may go through an entire career without winning anything, so they’ll be as determined as anyone.

So sun, rain, whatever, just enjoy what should be a special afternoon.

Enjoy every moment. It’s something we can hopefully look back on forever and say, ‘I was there on the day another title came to the County Ground’.
