THE long-awaited ring return of Walcot’s top female boxer Jordan O’Donoghue will happen this Friday night at Supermarine Sports and Social club, writes Dave Veysey.
The Walcot club are hosting 18 contests on a packed bill and after a two year ring absence, the 17-year-old Swindon hairdresser meets the unbeaten Jade Croom from the Emeralds Boxing Club in an outstanding Youth contest.
O’Donoghue said: “I gave up boxing when I was 15 and I have missed training at Walcot.
“Since I’ve been back I have really enjoyed it.
“I feel fit and strong and ready to give a good account of myself in the ring.”
Joining Jordan on the Walcot bill is her younger sister Paris and the 12-year-old Dorcan pupil faces Shanay Robinson from London’s Double Jab Boxing Club in her debut contest.
Chief coach Harry Scott said: “We have never had sisters boxing for Walcot before, so we are making history on Friday night.
“We have a lot of young talent on display so it should be a great show.”
Joining the O’Donoghue sisters are Walcot’s Western Counties Schoolboy champions Drew Hunt and Luke Scott Brown.
Both take part in potentially exciting contests against top opposition.
In the seniors, unbeaten light-heavyweight Brandon Spillane takes on local opposition in the shape of Malmesbury’s Sam Kirby.
Topping the bill will be Walcot heavyweight Richard Lloyd, who makes his debut against Chris Alderson from the Cheltenham Academy.
Doors open at 6.45pm and boxing will start around 7.45pm.
