THERE was double disappointment for Walcot boxers at the Western Counties north versus south match at the Marriott Hotel, Bristol, writes DAVE VEYSEY.

Both Mubashar Hussain and Owen Gallagher lost close points decisions to West Country rivals.

Twenty-year-old Hussain was giving away weight to Ryan Hart of Mayflower ABC, Plymouth.

He started slowly and lost the first two rounds before finding his range during the third, landing with several straight rights which troubled his opponent.

The fourth and final round saw the Walcot boxer dominate, but Hart pinched the result by a majority points verdict.

Seventeen-year-old Owen Gallagher encountered the experienced Darren Hull, also from the Mayflower club.

This was a close and exciting bout between two committed light middleweights.

The Walcot man took the first round, but the Devonian stormed back during the next session to edge ahead, and a tight final round saw Hull awarded a majority points success.

Chief coach Harry Scott was philosophical in defeat.

He said: "We are having a tremendous season at Walcot but you can't win them all.

"Both Mubashar and Owen fought hard but were just outgunned by more experienced rivals."
