THE Swindon Heavyweight Championship title will be on the line when Neilson Promotions stage their next show at the MECA next Saturday.

Two of Swindon’s toughest heavyweights will slug it out for the title in the Neilson’s eighth whitecollar show.

Dave ‘Bam Bam’ Gregory takes on Dennis ‘The Menace’ Jones for the vacant title in what could be a brutal contest.

Elsewhere on a bill mixed with ex-professionals and first-time amateurs, former full-time boxer Andy McCaffrey returns to the ring.

McCaffrey, who was also a former kickboxer, is a local favourite and takes on Birmingham’s Stewart Tordoff.

The Birmingham man will prove a stern test for McCaffrey having fought professionally out of former WBC super middleweight champion Richie Woodhall’s stable.

There is also a mouthwatering bout between two undefeated whitecollar boxers Luke Boswell and Paul Payne.

Neilson Promotions’ regular Dan Hart, who is still looking for his first win, takes on the army’s Gav Towler-Wilson.

Also on the bill are Ryan Towler-Wilson v Andy Backinsell, Aidan Hills v Chris Bull, Jamie Canavan v Aaron White, Robbie Burton v Danny Wilson, Vince Ayris v Chris Jones and Marcin Janecki v Scott Roberts.

Promoter Mark Neilson is excited to be hosting the show and said: “We’re putting on a real mixture of bouts with some ex-professional boxers and some first-time novices.

“The heavyweight title fight between Dave Gregory and Dennis Jones will surely be a great spectacle for the fight fans.”

Doors open at 7pm and tickets cost £20 (£40 VIP) and are available from MECA and Aligra Personnel, 4 Commercial Road, Swindon, www.swindontickets.co.uk, any of the fighters or on the door.
