LECHLADE captain Joe Breet thinks his side are now just two wins away from securing the Glos Wilts Division title.
Lechlade, who entertain Chippenham this Saturday at the Manor Ground, name an unchanged side from the one that beat Swindon last weekend.
Breet firmly believes that the title is now theirs to lose and has warned his team this week at training not to get complacent in the run-in.
“Our opponents this week are not a bad side and have shown this season they are capable of beating the top teams on their day. They are 20 points clear of the relegation zone and will be out not to slip back into the danger zone at this late stage and we will have to produce another good workmanlike performance to maintain our current advantage at the top of the table.”
Lechlade, who have struggled this year to find a settled opening partnership, will hope that last week’s pairing of Paul Godding and Sam Burdock continue the fine start they got off to last Saturday when the pair shared in a partnership of 105 at Swindon.
Coach Luke Sellers believes Lechlade have seen the best of their batting line-up when a good foundation has been set at the start of the innings.
“With a good base set it allows our top and middle order to express themselves and, with the depth of quality we have in the team, one or two of them will take games away from our opponents very quickly,” he said.
“On Saturday it was Brad and Willy (Dial and Nichols) but players such as Joe, Arran, Ryan and Oli (Breet, Dickinson, Higgins and Thornley) are all capable of doing the job.”
Lechlade’s Gloucestershire County Cup semi-final, which was cancelled last Sunday as a consequence of the weather, has been rearranged for this Sunday.
Cup captain Arran Dickinson says Lechlade have had to make some changes to the original team due to availability but will still travel with a very strong side and one that is more than capable of reaching the final for the second year running.
“The treble is still on for the club and we still have everything to play for and a cup final win on the last day of the season could cap it all off very nicely for us,” he said.
