JOE Breet believes a repeat of his side’s recent batting form will see the Glos/Wilts Division title return to the Riverside on Saturday night.

The champions-elect travel to Warminster with a 35-point lead in the table, requiring just 15 points to clinch the crown and promotion to the Premier divisions for the first time in the club’s 128-year history.

Lechlade are unchanged from last week’s victory over Chippenham and Breet senses the confidence is there within the camp to finish the job.

“The lads were buzzing at training this week but know we have to be fully focused this Saturday as we have no doubt Warminster will be all out to stop winning the title on their patch,” he said.

Lechlade’s new opening partnership of Sam Burdock and Paul Godding has been in blistering form, scoring just short of 200 runs in the last two weeks and laying the foundation for the top and middle order to flourish.

Breet added: “Sam and Paul have done a great job in recent weeks and this has enabled Brad (Dial) to play explosive innings in the last two games.

“If we can repeat our recent batting performances on Saturday I think we will be celebrating and partying in Lechlade on Saturday night.”

Coach Luke Sellers though is guarding against complacency for the trip to west Wiltshire, where the home side are off the back of a three-game winning streak and have reached fourth in the standings.

Sellers said: “They will be out to maintain that form as they look for a top half finish to the season.

“Desmond Kruger and Pete Hickerton have scored more than 700 runs between them this season and are both capable of causing us problems on their day with the bat and Rory Cullinan and John Powell can do likewise with the ball.”

IN THE Wiltshire Division tomorrow, Purton’s hopes of pipping Burbage & Easton Royal to the league title rest on them upsetting the league leaders.

It’s a winner-takes-all scenario at the Red Lion Field, with Purton 26 points behind Royal in the standings, while victory for the hosts will secure them the title with one match remaining.

Time is running out for Nationwide House to save themselves from a bottom-placed in the table.

The Swindon men are 12 points behind Devizes and host Winsley tomorrow.
