TEENAGER Liam Dawson helped guide Wiltshire to a 14-run victory at Hertfordshire yesterday and put their Lord's dreams back on track, writes ANDY CRYER.

The Chippenham all-rounder fell just two short of a half century as he and South Wilts youngster Eddie Abel (59) put on 79 for the third wicket stand in the minor counties knock-out cup.

James Golding added an important 27 as, having lost the toss, Wiltshire set their hosts a gettable target of 206.

South Wilts' Alex Senneck, (3-26) was the pick of Wiltshire bowlers as Hertfordshire fell 14 runs short of their target with one wicket in hand.

James Hibberd (2-20), and Richard Bedbrook (1-42) also produced impressive displays with the ball.

After a disappointing defeat to Oxfordshire at Westbury last weekend, Wiltshire have put themselves back in contention of qualifying through the group phase.

Buckinghamshire are up next at Trowbridge on Sunday with match manager Brian White underlining the importance of the match if they are to repeat last season's final appearance at Lord's.

He said: "We need a win on Sunday and then probably need to win our last group game as well.''
