GLOS/ WILTS ONE: Swindon claimed a nailbiting victory against local rivals Biddestone in Glos/Wilts One their second win in succession.
Bowling first, the Swindon opening attack of Will Nichols (right) and Bruce Martin proved a handful in the damp conditions and Nichols struck to remove both openers and leave Biddestome struggling at 1-2.
This brought together Biddestone's big two of Dwaine Perry and South African Clint Bowyer and they started to resurrect the innings before Nichols deflected a drive onto the stumps to run out the unlucky Perry and then Andy Staff pulled off a stunning stumping to remove Bowyer.
Martin joined the party by clean bowling Taylor before being replaced by Dom O'Neill who had Biddestone skipper Kris Boulton caught behind by Staff.
Nichols was in the midst of a outstanding spell of 15 consecutive overs and he struck once again to trap Mason lbw shortly before an outstanding spell of 15-7-24-4 ended.
Zohaib replaced Nichols and bowled Alan Low to leave Biddestone in trouble at 58-8.
However the lower order showed good application and, as the score climbed towards 100, Martin came back and clean bowled Unwin, heralding the end as Biddestone closed on 93 from 45.3 overs.
Swindon's reply was in trouble as Martin was clean bowled by Bedwell.
Bowyer's off-spin removed Paul Baden lbw and John Baden clean bowled within a couple of overs.
Andy Compton was adjudged lbw to Perry and when Dickinson became another Bowyer victim, Swindon were 29-5.
Matt Baker and Will Nichols rebuilt the innings, Andy Staff taking over when Baker departed and he and Nichols then shared a partnership of 30 and looked be taking Swindon to victory.
However there was a final twist as Bowyer once again struck to remove Nichols for 27.
Zohaib played a rash slog second ball to leave Swindon 81-8 and it looked as though Biddestone might pull off a remarkable victory.
But Staff and James Parkinson, in just his third first team game, held their nerve and took Swindon to their target.
