AFTER steering his side to their first win of the campaign at Purton last Saturday, Nationwide captain Joe Perkins is keen to maintain momentum as he leads his team against Devizes in Wilts One tomorrow.
A disciplined bowling performance and a resilient middle order ensured Nationwide emerged unscathed from a testing trip to struggling Purton, and Perkins has revealed his batsmen know more is expected from them at the top of the order.
"Our batsman realise that, although they all had good starts last week, no one went on to post a big score,” he said.
“Big hitters Jon Clarke and Sam Morshead are brought in for their first games of the season and we’ll see if they can make an impact."
Nevertheless, Perkins has faith in a Nationwide side who have opened up brightly this year in all aspects of their game.
And whilst the Devizes clash is expected to be a hugely competitive affair, Perkins is confident his players have the wherewithal to eek out another victory.
“We are full of confidence, and we’ll be looking to continue with our early season form after our first win of the season last week,” he said.
"The bowling attack is unchanged, after a fine performance last week, backed up by excellent fielding, where all 10 wickets were taken, with the slow bowlers itching to bowl on our track."
