WHITE Horse and Compton lead the way in Division One of the Monahans Midweek Cricket League, both recording their second victories of the season last Thursday.

White Horse surpassed Nationwide’s score of 126, for the loss of five wickets.

Sam Morshead scored 44 and Nick Clarke 41 to ease the White Horse home. Adam Tooze top-scored for Nationwide with a fine 62.

Compton swept aside Wanborough, setting a target of 144 with Miles contributing 46 to the total. Wanborough only managed 84-8 in their reply.

Meanwhile, Swindon Nalgo grabbed their first win of the season with a comprehensive nine-wicket win over Stratton. A target of 68 was set, and Zafar led Nalgo home with 42 not out, although Shah hit the winning runs with a majestic straight six.

In Division Two, Sevenfields, Lawn and Wroughton are the early season pace-setters. Lawn decisively overcame Intel, putting 171 on the board as Pagington contributed 85. Probo provided invaluable support with 57 before Intel could only manage 104 in reply, with Desouza, Mginley and Baden all capturing three wickets each. Wroughton Wranglers beat United Churches.

Sevenfields beat Wootton Bassett B, Farooq scored 58 not out as Sevenfields chased down the target of 106.

The stand-out performance of the week saw Bauer hit 109 as Purton A comfortably beat Haydon Wick. Purton set a tough target of 193 as Bauer scored his runs with a combination of placement and hard hitting. Haydon Wick could only limp to 103-6 in their run chase.

Motorola and Wroughton Wranglers 2 lead the way in Division Three.

Motorola beat Ashbury after posting a formidable target of 210 to win for Ashbury. Hadfield scored 50 not out, whilst Gupta anchored the innings, scoring 41.

Ashbury struggled in reply, reaching 91-5 as Khan and Jawaid bowled economically much to Ashbury’s frustration. Minton put in a tremendous all-round performance for Ashbury, scoring 31 runs after taking three wickets in the Motorola innings.

Wroughton beat Monahans, Stratford providing the match setting knock of 30 not out on the Croft wicket. This enabled Wroughton to reach 102 before Monahans we bowled out for 74. Evans took 3-14 to prevent Monahans challenging.

The Dolphin won their first game of the season with victory over Anchor. Anchor scored 66, with Averies taking 4-5 runs from three overs. Parsons hit 45 for The Dolphin as the target was achieved with five overs to spare.

Gamcom and Alcatel-Lucent got Division Four underway, with Gamcom running out the victors. Alcatel-Lucent set a total of 108, Goswami took three wickets from his four overs for Gamcom. Shankar Rao scored 57 not out and Adapa, also not out, scored 42 to help Gamcom to victory with all 10 wickets intact and six overs to spare.
