ALL four Swindon players missed out on a place in the Grand Slam of Darts in today’s qualifying event in Wigan.
More than 180 players from across the country entered the event at Robin Park Tennis Centre with only four qualifying places on offer.
Swindon players Johnny Haines and Dennis Smith exited in the preliminary round at the hands of Daryl Gurney and Magnus Caris respectively, while Chris Aubrey and Mark Cox began their campaigns in the first round.
Aubrey won his first match with a good 4-2 win over experienced pro Ronnie Baxter while Cox beat Matt Clark by the same score, but both players exited at the next hurdle at the hands of Martyn Turner and James Wilson.
The four qualifiers were Vincent van der Voort, Stuart Kellett, Peter Wright and Justin Pipe.
