MOREDON A were beaten 38-31 in a top-of-the-table clash with Nationwide A in the Swindon & District Netball League Division One at the weekend.
Moredon started the game just a single point behind the leaders and the hosts took control of proceedings early on to lead by two goals at half-time.
Nationwide decided some tactical changes were needed at the midway point and Fran Connelly came on at wing attack.
The switches seemed to revitalise Nationwide and they pulled back to equalise, before two injuries sustained by Moredon's goal shooter Laura Griffiths and wing defence Mandy Donald hampered their earlier pace.
Replacement goal shooter Wendy Jones battled with the Nationwide goalkeeper for dominance and whereas earlier the Moredon defence, and especially goalkeeper Bryony Rogers, had made it hard for Nationwide's attack to play to their strengths the visitors were now able to capitalise on the height of the forward line and started to pull away to claim a comfortable victory.
