SWINDON were outclassed by a powerful City of Bath side as they failed to extend their winning run to three matches.

In a contest bossed by the visitors from start to finish, Swindon were fortunate not to lose by a greater margin, the 2-0 scoreline scarcely reflecting Bath's dominance.

The hosts began poorly, and Bath quickly converted their early pressure into the opening goal.

Some unsure defending by the Swindon backs led to a short corner, which was duly dispatched into the bottom corner via a swift one-two.

Bath continued to drive forward, out-pacing and out-thinking Swindon to win a series of short corners, as the hosts were forced defend wave after wave of attack.

On a rare foray into Bath territory, Thomas Gillingham made good ground down the right before pulling the ball back to Leon Foster, whose effort sailed past the left hand post.

The second half started in similar fashion, with City of Bath scoring again from close range.

The game then descended into farce, and Swindon were reduced to nine men when Couling and Scrase were both sent to the sin-bin following a heated exchange with their Bath counterparts.

Down to nine men, Swindon struggled to maintain any sort of structure, with all players frequently behind the ball making last-ditch tackles.

Swindon continued to make poor decisions around their D, and Bath were unlucky not to extend their lead from a number of short corners.

Even the re-introduction of the two bad boys failed to alleviate the gloom that had been Swindon's performance, as Bath confidently kept the ball until the final whistle.

Swindon travel to high-flying Devizes on Saturday, when they will meet former Swindon favourite, National League star and semi-professional Steve Philpott.
