SONICS were desperately unlucky to lose out 84-81 to Plymouth Marjons Cannons in an exciting English Basketball League Division Four (South West) encounter at the Link Centre.
The first quarter ended 16-16 and it remained close for the first five minutes of the second period before David Garcia scored three three-pointers.
And with four points for Chris Jones, Sonics opened up a nine-point gap before Plymouth came back to trail 37-34 at the half.
It remained close throughout the third but, in the final quarter, Swindon led by five with 90 seconds left.
Plymouth replied with seven unanswered points to go into the lead with only 10 seconds left.
But, as time ran out, Oliver Sauer was fouled and coolly nailed the free throws to send the game into overtime.
However, Plymouth scored first in the extra period and answered every Sonics score to take a narrow win.
On Sunday, Sonics take on Guildford Heat 2nd at the Link Centre (4pm).
Sonics scorers: Oliver Sauer 26 points, Matt North 19, Chris Jones 18, David Garcia 16, Dan Bissex 2.
