WILTSHIRE over 50s recorded their second win of the season in the Inter-Counties League with an 8-4 home triumph over Avon 2nd.
The team of Nigel Maryan, Graham Long, Vernon Button, Bob Wilcox, Greta Howard, Sue Long, Davina Griffin and Louise Field ran out comfortable winners, despite Avon fielding an A team player (which is permitted in the rules this year).
Wiltshire won three men's doubles matches, two ladies doubles and three mixed doubles to put further daylight between themselves and Avon 2nd in the county table.
Long and Maryan won both their men's doubles in straight sets, while Button and Wilcox enjoyed mixed fortunes, winning one and losing one.
Wiltshire ladies dropped both rubbers against the Avon first pair but beat the second pair to make it honours even.
Leading 5-3 heading into the mixed, wins for Graham and Sue Long, Button and Griffin and Wilcox and Field saw the team safely home.
The last match for the team is away to Devon in three weeks time.
