WILTSHIRE under 15s suffered a 26-10 reverse at the hands of table-toppers Dorset in the latest round of the ICC South West League, writes GARETH MOORHOUSE.
The boys' singles set the tone for the match as hosts Dorset, boasting several junior England players, took all six rubbers.
The Wiltshire girls fared better however, halving the singles 3-3, with wins for Harriet Ferris, Amy Gamble and Becky Outerside. Becky Ewin narrowly lost her singles in three sets.
The doubles proved equally tough for the boys as Dorset claimed eight of the nine rubbers, Wiltshire's top pair of George Dent and Jon Saunders breaking the duck with a two-set triumph over Dorset's third pair.
The girl's doubles was a very different story as Wiltshire won five and lost four.
Ferris and Gamble won their three rubbers in straight sets, while the second pair of Becky Ewin and Alice Woodman won two.
Becky Outerside and Melissa Paniccia took all their doubles to three sets but lost narrowly on every occasion.
The mixed doubles showed how strong the Dorset boys were, as the home side took five of the six rubbers on offer, with Adam Grant and Becky Outerside the only Wiltshire pair to record a win.
Wiltshire team: George Dent, Aiden Beardsley, Jon Saunders, Edward Thorn, Adam Grant, Ben Hodder, Harriet Ferris, Amy Gamble, Becky Ewin, Alice Woodman, Melissa Paniccia, Becky Outerside.
