Miglioranzi rejects bid from Oxford:

STEFANI Miglioranzi has rejected the advances of Conference-bound Oxford United with at least three League One clubs chasing his services.

In addition, two sides in the American Major League Soccer are keeping tabs on him.

The Brazilian midfielder is juggling career options with his imminent wedding in San Francisco but the Kassam Stadium won't be on his agenda when he returns from honeymoon.

With no firm contract offer forthcoming from manager Iffy Onuora and other parties expressing an interest, Miglioranzi is moving on but without bitterness or regret.

He said: "I've had some good times and made some great friends. The manager and I had a chat and you move forward.

"There's no regrets and the manager has treated me very well as a person.

"I have a lot to thank Swindon Town for. There were a lot of questions being asked about me, particularly over my knees, when I signed.

"I'd like to think that I've given my all in the four seasons I've been here and I wish everyone well. I'm very thankful for the friendship from people at the club and from the fans.

"You always look back at what might have been.

"I don't feel we got what we deserved in the play-offs a couple of years ago. "Unfortunately we weren't able to keep the squad together and then you suffer from inconsistency."

So what beckons now for Miglioranzi weddings aside? He said: "I would say three or four clubs have expressed an interest but you're wary of jinxing anything before pen is put to paper.

"Three of the clubs are in League One, and one possibly higher.

"I know a couple of managers in the States have also watched me."

To the delight of Town fans, Miglioranzi will not be following Tommy Mooney's County Ground exit strategy.

He said: "Oxford United were one of the clubs to speak to my agent but I don't think I'll be going there.

"It's always nice to know there are people who see in you something they like though.''

  • Town are holding a fans forum at the County Ground on Tuesday May 16, where deputy chairman Mark Devlin and manager Iffy Onuora are expected to attend.

The 150 available tickets will go on sale later this week from the Town box office.

  • THE Swindon Advertiser Player of the Year competition winner was Joe Prinzi of Swindon.
